Nice work, CJ! I agree, it's disheartening to watch hard-fought advancements recede with the tide. We've seen it in healthcare freedoms, voting rights, environmental regulations and LGBTQ protections to mention a few. As you eloquently explained, we've seen “standing” redefined and relief given based purely on hypothetical criteria. Both decisions set an equally dangerous precedence. We must vote in numbers not seen in recent elections. Republicans suffered defeat during the 2022 midterm elections, but instead of changing course they double down on their harsh rhetoric. We must vote to insure they suffer the same fate in 2024.

Thanks again, Randy. The future is in our hands. We can go down with a whimper, go down voting or vote to successfully beat back fascism and plutocracy. I'm hoping for the last one.

Also, the important of progressive voices on the Federal bench can’t be over emphasized. I trust that recent setbacks are temporary, as are most political wins regardless of party affiliation. My primary concern is that Lady Justice remains blind and faithless, after all, she’s holding a sword and a scale, but she’s not wearing a cross around her neck.

I agree that rulings shouldn't restrict based on a particular religion's tenets. The founders expressly rejected a state religion, and judgements backing the nation into having one should be heresy for "originalists."

As important as progressive justices are, SCOTUS refills happen slowly. Gorsuch, Alito, Kavanagh, Coney-Barrett and Roberts are all relatively young and could all be there another 30 years at least. Thomas, the current eldest, has been there over 30 years and could go for 10 more. The pipeline for lower courts needs more progressive replenishment, without doubt. Redress in a timely way now, however, is through Legislative and Executive branches. Otherwise, we'll find much of the nation constricted by what could be a minimum 5-4 reactionary majority for decades.
